Connecting your account

dmrabbit works with one Instagram account, connected once. Everything else in the product depends on this step.

You need a professional account

Your Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account. A personal account cannot be connected, because Instagram does not let any tool read or answer comments and messages on one.

Switching is free, takes under a minute in the Instagram app under Settings, then Account type and tools, and you can switch back whenever you like.

You do not need a Facebook Page

Many Instagram tools require you to create a Facebook Page and link it to your account. dmrabbit does not. You sign in with Instagram directly.

How to connect

1. From your dashboard, choose Connect Instagram.
2. You are taken to Instagram, where you sign in if you are not already.
3. Instagram asks you to approve four permissions. Leave all four switched on.
4. You are returned to dmrabbit with your account connected.

Your recent conversations are loaded into your inbox automatically, so it is not empty when you arrive.

One account, and one place

Two rules that catch people out:

• One Instagram account per dmrabbit account. If you already have one connected, disconnect it before connecting another.
• An Instagram account can only be connected to one dmrabbit account at a time. If it is already in use elsewhere, disconnect it there first.

The most common reason by far is a permission that was switched off on Instagram's screen. See Permissions, or Troubleshooting for the other causes.
