Live comment automations
Answering comments while you are broadcasting, and how they differ from comments on a post.
When you go live, comments arrive in the broadcast rather than under a post. An automation with the on live comment trigger answers those, in the moment, while people are still watching.
What is different from a normal comment automation
| On comment | On live comment | |
|---|---|---|
| Choose which posts to watch | Yes | No |
| Keywords and matching | Yes | Yes |
| Public reply | Yes | Yes |
| DM in reply | Yes | Yes, best effort |
| Follow gate | Yes | Yes |
There are no posts to pick
A broadcast does not exist until you start it, so there is nothing to choose in advance. The Media step does not appear, and the automation applies to every live you do.
A DM to a live commenter is best effort
The public reply is the reliable action during a broadcast. A DM may not reach someone while the live is still running, so if the message matters, put it in the public reply as well.
Setting one up
Create an automation as usual and pick on live comment as the trigger. You will get Conditions and Actions, and no Media step. Everything else works the way it does for a comment automation, including keywords and the follow gate.
It is separate from your other automations
A live comment automation only answers live comments, and your ordinary comment automations only answer comments on posts and reels. If you want both, you need one of each. The rule that only one automation replies still applies, and it applies within each surface separately.
Comments on a finished broadcast
Comments left during the live are answered by the live automation. Once the broadcast has ended, nothing further arrives from it.
