dmrabbit answers Instagram comments and DMs for you. Someone comments a keyword on your post, and within seconds they get a public reply, a private message, or both. It connects through Instagram's own login screen, so there is no password to hand over and no Facebook Page to set up.
It does one thing. It is not a multi-channel inbox, an AI chat agent, or a scheduling tool. This page covers what it actually does, what it costs, and where it stops.
Who it is for
dmrabbit suits accounts where the same questions arrive over and over in the comments:
Sellers and D2C brands fielding price, size and availability questions on every product post
Coaches and course creators handing out a free guide, an application link, or enrollment details
Local businesses such as salons, gyms, restaurants and agents sending booking links, menus or listing details
Creators who want every comment answered without sitting on the app
It is a poor fit if you need one dashboard covering WhatsApp, Messenger and SMS as well. dmrabbit is Instagram only, on purpose.
What it automates
Comment replies. A public reply posted under the comment, within seconds of it arriving.
Direct messages. A private message to the person who commented, carrying the link, code or answer.
Story replies and story mentions. The same keyword rules apply when someone replies to your story or mentions you in theirs.
Follow-gated DMs. The private message unlocks only after the person follows you.
A bio page at dmrabbit.com/yourhandle, with links and short articles, included on both plans.
How the follow gate actually works
This one is worth explaining, because most tools describe it loosely.
Instagram does not let any app read whether a commenter follows you. That permission only exists once the person has messaged your account first. So a follow gate cannot be a silent check before the DM goes out.
dmrabbit handles it in two steps. The commenter gets a private reply with an "I'm following" button. When they tap it, dmrabbit reads their follow status at that moment and either delivers the message or asks again. A DM-triggered gate can check immediately, because messaging you is what granted the permission in the first place.
Pricing
Two plans. That is the whole list.
Free, $0, no card. One Instagram account, one bio page, 500 comment replies and 500 messages a month, unlimited contacts, 10 automations. No time limit, and not a trial.
Starter, $5.90 a month or $59 a year. Everything unlimited: replies, messages, contacts, automations. Same one account and one bio page. In India it is Rs 349 a month or Rs 3,490 a year.
The paid plan removes the caps rather than raising them. There is no per-contact billing, so a post that goes unexpectedly wide costs the same as one that does not.
What dmrabbit does not do
Worth knowing before you sign up.
One Instagram account per customer. Not a tier you can buy past. If you run several accounts, dmrabbit handles one of them.
Instagram only. No WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS or Telegram.
Text-only DMs. Automated messages carry text and links. They cannot attach a PDF, image or video.
No live comment automation. Automations run on post comments, story replies and DMs. Instagram Live comments need a permission dmrabbit does not currently hold.
No AI conversations. Rules match keywords and send what you wrote. There is no agent improvising a reply.
No integrations. Nothing connects to Shopify, a CRM or an email tool. You paste links and codes into the message yourself.
No scheduling. dmrabbit reacts to posts. It does not help you plan them.
Moderation and the inbox
Every automated and manual conversation lands in one inbox, comments and DMs together. From a comment thread you can hide, unhide or delete the comment on Instagram without opening the app. It works one comment at a time, which covers the case that actually matters: an automation replied to something it should not have, and you want that gone now.
You can also block a contact. That stops automations from answering them. It does not stop you replying by hand, and the person sees no change on their end.
How it compares
The obvious alternative is ManyChat, which covers Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and SMS from one place and prices by contact count. That breadth is real, and so is the bill when a post lands well.
InstantDM is closer to dmrabbit: Instagram-focused, flat pricing, with AI replies at $9.99 a month.
dmrabbit's argument is narrow and cheap. Unlimited usage at $5.90, a follow gate built in rather than assembled, and a bio page thrown in. If you want AI conversations or multi-channel reach, buy one of the others.
For the wider field, see the comparison of Instagram automation tools.
What it looks like in practice
A clothing seller sets PRICE as the trigger on a new arrival Reel. Every comment with that word gets a public reply and a DM with the price and sizes, instead of forty manual replies in the first hour.
A fitness studio runs TRIAL on its workout Reels. Someone comments while they are still motivated and has the free-class link before that feeling passes.
A coach puts a follow gate on GUIDE. People follow to unlock the resource, so the lead magnet and the follower arrive together.
An estate agent uses a different trigger per listing, so an enquiry at midnight gets the details at midnight.
The short version
dmrabbit is a comment-to-DM tool for one Instagram account, at $5.90 a month for unlimited use, with a working follow gate and a bio page included. It is deliberately narrow. If that is the shape of your problem, it is cheap and it works. If you need more than Instagram, it is the wrong tool and one of the alternatives above is a better use of your money.
